1. Lie Down on Munda Pahar Beach

Located at a distance of about 25 km from Port Blair. This magnificent place with crystal clear water has green mangrove trees with birds chirping all around and a rich dense forest nearby. The beauty of the place is such that it captivates the heart of its visitors forever.

Not just a normal beach, Munda Pahar is the most visited and most loved beaches in the Andaman Islands. Being nestled in the lap of nature, it is truly worth seeing. It has an extensive collection of 46 species of endemic birds which is quite interesting if you are familiar with the environmental studies. It has become a habitat for these beautiful birds. Being an inseparable and important part of the Andaman Islands, this beach attracts a crowd of tourists who visit the place throughout the year.

2. Visit Cellular Jail

The Cellular Jail in Port Blair witnessed the torture done by Britishers on freedom fighters imprisoned there. The prison was named “cellular” because of individual cells of solitary confinement. It is intended as a deep memory of British rule in the Indian subcontinent. This most feared and gruesome prison was used by the British to deport Indian political prisoners.

Over the years due to climatic damages only three wings and towers still left. In 1969, it was converted into a national monument. It is open on all days except national holidays. This place is a journey for all history lovers who are curious to learn more about Indian- British history. Visiting this prison is considered as one of the best things to do in Port Blair.

3. Climb up to Mount Harriet

Mount Harriet has the most notable crest in the Andaman Islands. It got its name after the second husband of Robert Christopher Tytler, Harriet Tytler. He was a British soldier, naturalist, and a picture taker who was posted to the Port Blair and was elected under the direction of the superintendent.

Mount Harriet’s common appeal and excellence attract a lot of guests. You can get a look at the different types of winged creatures flying around here. From the highest point of the summit, you can get an amazing view of Port Blair, Ross Island and Havelock Island.

4. Explore the Barren Island Volcano

Don’t miss the barren island volcano, while on a trip to Port Blair. It is the only active volcanic chain from Sumatra to Myanmar and is also the only active volcano in India. Its name is apparently appropriate because it is a deserted area by humans. The barren island come under restricted area and requires special permits to travel to this barren island. Also, no one is allowed to land and to stay at night on Barren Island.

So, if anyone wants to stay here then start a morning trip to the island, which starts around 3 or 4 am. It takes about 4 to 5 hours to reach the island by the ship. The whole of the island looks attractive and can visited by chartered boats only after obtaining Forest Department approval and the necessary permits. 5. Aberdeen Market

If you are expert in bargaining and loves to shop then head to the Aberdeen market. You can pick up many items from roadside stalls and as well as government emporiums here. Jewellery, colourful fabrics, Port Blair T-shirts and wooden artefacts are the most famous things that are available here in good quality. After a good shopping, you can enjoy delicious food at the Lighthouse Residency at the market itself.

The best things to pick from the Aberdeen market are pearl jewellery, home decoration items made of shells, bangles, paper mache tribal masks and coconut lamps. If you are in Andaman and love shopping then this is definitely a trip for all shopkeepers and should not be missed. You will definitely be spoiled for choice in the market which will fulfil all your needs.
